TIME WASTER / PRIVACY
Your email.
On your device.
This notice covers the Time Waster Chrome extension and our website, timewasterapp.com. Time Waster is operated by JackEllisWeb.
Effective 18 September 2026
The extension: your selected email is processed locally. No cloud AI, developer analytics, or automatic sending.
The website: we use Fathom Analytics for website statistics. Fathom is not included in the extension and does not receive your email text or drafts.
What the extension reads
After you allow local processing and click the toolbar icon, Time Waster reads the selected rendered message in Gmail or Fastmail. It uses the visible sender name to address the draft. Account, message, recipient and current mail-page details help verify that the reply goes into the correct conversation.
Clicking the icon replaces the current verified reply draft while preserving signatures and quoted history. The extension checks for edits made during generation before inserting. It does not scan your inbox in the background, read attachments, access your calendar or click Send. For a Fastmail conversation, it uses the latest expanded incoming message. If separate possible targets remain, you choose which one to use.
How replies are generated
Chrome’s built-in Gemini Nano model processes the selected email on your device. The email and reply are not sent to JackEllisWeb, Fathom Analytics, advertisers or a cloud AI provider. If local AI cannot produce a usable reply in time, a short built-in draft is used.
Chrome downloads and manages its model separately under Google’s policies and your browser settings. Optional background readiness prepares only the application instructions; it does not read emails before you click.
Storage and deletion
The extension stores your consent, sign-off name, reply mode and background-readiness preference locally on this device, not in Chrome Sync. You can change these in Options. Uninstalling the extension removes those saved settings.
Email text and generated replies are held in temporary memory during a request. Model sessions containing email are destroyed after each attempt. An unsuccessful insertion can leave a reply available in Options for copying until dismissed, navigation or tab closure discards it, or the extension worker stops. The mail page temporarily remembers the reply editor’s state at your click to protect edits made during generation, and its own insertion to identify the reply composer. Reloading the page clears these records. Last-run timing and draft-source information are also temporary. No email content is written to extension storage.
Once a draft is inserted, Gmail or Fastmail may save it to their servers under their own privacy policies. You control whether to edit, send or delete it. Uninstalling Time Waster does not delete your provider’s emails or drafts, or Chrome’s model download.
Website analytics
We use Fathom Analytics to understand which pages are visited and how people find this website, so we can improve it. Fathom uses no tracking cookies and does not create advertising profiles across websites.
A website visit sends request information to Fathom, including the page address, referrer, IP address and browser user-agent. Fathom temporarily uses request details to distinguish visits and create site-specific signatures, then produces website statistics. This does not give us access to your email, mailbox, extension activity or drafts. Read Fathom’s data journey for its processing and anonymization details.
The interactive examples on this site are prewritten. They do not read your inbox, run AI, or send messages. We do not collect email addresses through a signup form on this site.
Website delivery
The website is hosted on Vercel, which processes connection information needed to serve it, such as IP address and browser request details. Fonts are served with this website. Fathom is the only third-party analytics script we add.
Limited use of extension data
Information you choose to process in the extension is used only for the reply-drafting feature. We do not sell it, use it for advertising or creditworthiness decisions, or give the developer access to your emails. Time Waster’s use of this information complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Your choices and contact
You can cancel generation with another toolbar click, switch off background readiness in Options, or uninstall the extension. You can block the Fathom script in your browser without affecting the website’s examples or the extension.

Changes to this notice
We will update this page when our data handling changes. Remote email processing would require a new in-app notice and consent.
